The thing that worries me is that too many people are expecting the 50bp rate cut. That sets us up for a classic sell the news sitch.

how about if uncle AL decides to cut only 25 ? -g-

I think the market has built in a 50 bp cut. Woe betide the market if Greenspan cuts only 25 bps.

With oil going back up and the energy crises in the west, I wonder if Greenspan is prepared to disappoint the market?
Seems to me if the bond yields are predicting with about an 80% chance of a 50 point drop then anything less would disappoint the market.
As bad as I can't stand Greenspan, I wonder if he is prepared to jolt the market like that?

This is one reason I think he is going to say something Thursday to try and prepare the market.
