OT-(some rambling energy thoughts)Dave, I think Parachute Wind Power would be more powerful than Windmill Power and think they should look into it. A couple years ago I read a theory that the Egyptian Pyramids were built by using Parachute type sails to lift the giant rocks into place, with pulleys and hoists. It makes sense that a low cost Parachute with rope or cable, pulleys and hoists, could pull a 10 Ton block of concrete up a 50 foot pole, and when it hits the top, a switch could be tripped that would spring the top of the parachute and the block would come down driving a generator and pulling the Parachute back in. When it reaches the bottom again, someone or some mechanism, rehooks the top of the Parchute, the wind picks it up and there goes the block of cement, back up the pole. I think it would take a very expensive windmill to drive a 10 Ton block of cement 50 feet up, but a very low cost Parachute. Imagine giant Parachutes that could drive 100 Ton blocks of concrete up hundreds of 100 foot poles. That could generate a lot of electricity. Maybe someday clean energy from around us will power everything. I know Wave Power from the Ocean alone, could generate huge amounts of electricity, if the right technology was developed. Maybe the time is ripe, with rising energy costs for major investments in tapping more natural power sources. Now if only we could use gravity to drive a perpetual motion machine that turns gravity into electricity - I have a theory on how one could possibly do it, but, enough B.S. for now.
