DMC Stratex Networks to Supply Simtel With Data and Voice
Wireless Access Products

New Order Provides for Last-Mile Wireless Equipment for
Transmission Of Cellular Data and Voice Services to End Users
in Venezuela

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- DMC Stratex
Networks (Nasdaq: STXN - news), one of the world's foremost
solutions providers for cellular applications and broadband
wireless access, today announced that it has contracted with
SIMTEL, C.A. of Caracas, Venezuela, to supply last-mile
wireless connectivity for data and voice service providers in
Venezuela.

SIMTEL supplies, services and integrates telecommunications
systems providing analog and digital voice and/or data
transmission to the domestic Venezuelan market for standard
and rural communications to government and privately own
networks. This particular $2.1 million order is for XP4
wireless access products in the 23 GHz frequency range.
Shipments are planned to begin this quarter.

SIMTEL, a long-time system integrator customer of DMC Stratex
Networks, will utilize XP4 to enable its value-added service
provider customers to interconnect their customers into a
broadband fixed wireless access network. Most areas in the
region do not have reliable fiber or copper communications
infrastructures in place for voice and data traffic.

``DMC Stratex Networks is a leading wireless access equipment
provider, and we selected the XP4 over other products we
evaluated because of DMC Stratex' local presence, as well as
the products' ease of installation and maintenance, and
competitive price,'' said Roger Morton, SIMTEL president.
``We have a long-term relationship with DMC Stratex Networks,
and its leading XP4 product line delivers the capabilities
our customers need for them to offer their subscribers voice
and data transmission services better than installing fiber
because of lower cost and quicker time-to-market issues.''

``We are pleased to have been selected to provide the last-
mile wireless communications solutions for SIMTEL, a leading
systems integrator company focused on the needs of
telecommunications service providers in Venezuela,'' said Sam
Smookler, DMC Stratex Networks president and CEO. ``Our
strong local presence in South America provides our customers
in the region with the products and support services they
require'.''

The XP4 is a quickly installed, low-cost wireless network
solution. It offers the flexibility of transmission
capacities from 2 Mbps to 45 Mbps, and frequency bands from
7 GHz to 38 GHz.
