BURLINGTON, Mass., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Cognos® (Nasdaq: COGN - news; Toronto: CSN - news), the world's largest and most successful business intelligence company, today launched its Enterprise Portal Partner (EPP) program. Designed to provide customers using industry-leading portals such as Corechange, InfoImage, Plumtree Software, SageMaker and Viador with a single view of traditional and e-business information for strategic decision-making, Cognos' EPP program ensures that joint customers have a common entry into Cognos' industry-leading business intelligence solutions. Customers can access Cognos' managed reporting, multidimensional analysis, ad hoc query and visualization capabilities through a range of portal solutions.

Through Cognos' EPP program, portal vendors will optimize their solutions to seamlessly integrate with Cognos Upfront(TM), a portal service that provides end users with a single, Web-based point of personalized access to Cognos business intelligence (BI) information, as well as non-BI content. Using Cognos Upfront, content delivery and management is centralized and accessible through a customizable interface that is designed for portal integration to meet the unique needs of different types of users. By integrating Cognos business intelligence into their portal of choice, customers can search, review and analyze business-critical information for decision-making, ultimately enhancing relationships with customers, suppliers and partners.

In the last year, Cognos has collaborated closely with portal vendors to ensure that joint customers can take full advantage of Cognos' business intelligence solutions. In October, Cognos announced its membership in Plumtree Software's network of partners and customers developing Plumtree Portal Gadgets(TM), distributed portal components that retrieve the most useful information and services from enterprise applications and the Internet. Cognos has developed a suite of gadgets that empower joint customers to query strategic data sources on market trends, customer buying habits, channel performance and profitability from the same personalized portal page they use to check e-mail, get industry news, and access marketing materials. In addition, Cognos has joined the InfoImage Federated Alliance Program.

``Putting key services from Cognos' business intelligence solution in the Plumtree Corporate Portal as Plumtree Portal Gadgets allows anyone in the enterprise to view Cognos' analyses of information in data warehouses, data marts and legacy data stores, every day,'' said Sam Charrington, director of business development at Plumtree. ``Cognos' Enterprise Portal Partner program empowers our customers to create a single Web destination for employees, suppliers and customers anywhere to track everything from profitability to production capacity, shortening cycle times and driving sales.''

``Cognos business intelligence is a natural complement to our InfoImage Freedom enterprise decision portal, providing intuitive and personalized access and analysis of key business data from disparate sources,'' said David Duckworth, vice president of strategic alliances and channels at InfoImage. ``As part of Cognos' Enterprise Portal Partner program, our customers will have access to powerful, insightful information that enable them to uncover innovative new business opportunities.''

``Viador has always understood the importance of accessing and sharing business information within a large enterprise,'' said Robert Craig, vice president of strategic marketing at Viador Inc. ``Cognos' EPP program enables us to deliver vital corporate data to enterprise customers, suppliers and partners through the Viador self-service portal.''

``Cognos' EPP program provides a framework for leading portal vendors to work with Cognos to deliver seamless access to corporate data,'' said Patrick O'Leary, Cognos vice president of strategic alliances. ``Cognos' Web-based business intelligence solutions combined with portal technology from our EPP partners enable companies to build leading e-business performance sites to support a range of key business initiatives, including customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM) and B2B collaboration.''
