I would also add to the national gifts that California has received this: A LOT of the Reagan/Bush the 1st defense spending was focused on that state.

I live in CA. People here in Silicon Valley drive around with bumper stickers that say "No Power Plant" in their hometown and then they wonder why we have rotating blackouts. And no one here is making real efforts to conserve energy. There will be a painful and well deserved end to this madness.
