TSO:

Just hearing the opening bell gives me a nosebleed these days...you don't suppose the volatility is getting to me, do you???<g>

IMHO, till the end of the month, I still think a lot of tax loss sellers will be re-establishing positions, the Fed's next easing will occur and should at least bring some more sidelined money into the market (though, as E has pointed out a further cut is already priced in). After that, we'll probably drift sideways for a couple of months. Of course, if one believes in the efficiency of the market, we should by then be seeing stock prices reflective of earnings 6-9 months out. I'm not holding my breath--just my positions.

Hey DLO:

I don't like the feeling yesterday afternoon and today's action confirms it. I've lightened up quite a bit, now 25% in. Sold IDTI, CY, ISSI, GLW, CIEN. Hoping to buy back some lower. I didn't get fully out of GLW in time either; getting creamed today on good numbers but poor guidance.

I'd like us all to gather a list of candidates for the next leg up post earnings: need good Dec. earnings, good revenue guidance for the rest of the year, little sign of a slow down, and recent good price action to attract attention first. So far on my list I have EMC, ISSI, JNPR (though this one lacks the recent price acceleration a bit and still has a high P/E).
