Dear Gus: More than 50% of FY00 sales of $8.87B came from products introduced during the year

In my experience, that is an INCREDIBLE statistic. I derive two things from that.
1. They really are getting payback for their R&D and its coming quickly
2. This is such a rapidly evolving technology it would be VERY DIFFICULT for a new competitor to enter the field and hard for an existing competitor to keep up unless VERY well financed. Makes me think of Reagan and Star Wars. Ultimately bankrupted Russia and lead to the end of the Cold War and USA as the Supreme world power. JDN

Gus,

I listened to the Qlogic conference call last night and they said that they had over $1 million in sales to EMC in the quarter just ended. Apparently this was all new business.

Do you think that this new product(Chameleon)incorporates Qlogic switches or other FC equipment? I did hear a rumor a couple of months ago that QLGC's switches had tested very favorably in the Clariion labs so I'm very curious. If not, do you have any idea where QLGC and EMC might be getting together?

Thanks

Craig
