And of course, you're not aware that the Prelim number may be revised up, down or not at all each month on its way to becoming final.

As I said, comparing Preliminary numbers with final is a futile exercise. Taking that one step further, the Preliminary number is of very little value for attempting to do precise mathmatical comparisons. While better than no number at all, it's not that much of a step upward.
