I've come to the conclusion that the Ayn Rand stuff is also a myth just to give bears hope that Greenspan will flip the world the bird one of these days. You sound like you've taken Luc's advice to hit the doobage tonight -g-

Andy, a few years back Larry Parks asked him about that. Greenspan said that many members of the FOMC board were disagreeing with him, and that he more or less gave in. when Parks said "but you know how this will end" he walked away not saying a word.
then there's the anecdote where he said he would combat the k-wave winter with a huge credit expansion, which is precisely what has happened. by now we're very close to the make-or-break point, the one where either the CB stops the credit expansion and induces the bust , or continues on its merry path and risks what von Mises called the 'complete destruction of the currency system'.
