My belief is that the home environment is going to supercede whatever happens in school. In other words, if a child is brought up in a repressed, sexually uninformed environment, no amount of sex ed is going to change that. It may be well intentioned, and it may sound perfectly reasonable on paper, but I don't believe that it has the desired effect.

But I think that another point is that the door being open for the schools to delve into this area, also opens the door for religious groups to demand equal time (think about the demand for creationism to be taught alongside evolution, it is not so far fetched of an idea).
