That's a good question regarding whether political threads are also visited more frequently during down market times, we can find out during the next down leg, which may not be for a while... my unsubstantiated guess is that political threads may not see an increase in visitors as much as see the tone of the posts change to a more abrupt genre for the purpose of blaming the opposing political party for the market decline... of course, when a thread advertises 'no gloves' there's that predisposition to rolling in the mud whether it's actually intended or otherwise... I have found it just about impossible to have a serious dialogue without being pulled into it here... it may have been better to say 'no personal attacks' and then another thread with those rules could be started now or at any time..... Borrowing an idea from another thread is a two way street and is done mutually, and the same poster may even be visiting both threads, who knows, but regardless... I think once someone posts something that uses the clever technique of offbeat news, everyone seems to find it entertaining, and it is.....<g> I think the underlying point of my Insults Only thread is that we can poke fun at ourselves and at each other without getting our feelings hurt all the time... we need to take ourselves less seriously sometimes, too often we forget how to smile and how to laugh at ourselves and laugh each other... on the Insults Only thread I have often made an insulting remark about myself for the effect of throwing off the previous poster... sometimes good clean fun is just good clean fun and no harm or disrespect is ever meant or intended, but there are always those people around who get their feelings hurt and are so offended so quickly about anything... I really wonder how healthy it is for those people to live their lives with their radar searching for personal affronts all the time... we can all get offended with something(s), I know I have... but we all need to lighten up a few notches and be able to laugh at life as well.....
