The dutch don't have the sense of overweening pride the French have That is a very polite way of describing the French. nor do they have an obsessive desire to keep their culture "pure", they don't have the suspicion of foreign ways that the British had for so long, and they aren't a thing like the Germans. Possibly they have had, in recent years, less opportunity to throw their weight around than the larger European nations. The Indonesians do not have positive memories of the Dutch. Power tends to corrupt....
