Early trading will be interesting. Hard to evaluate the news overall, lots of pluses and minuses in there. 1.6 bn is a scary charge, but on the other hand cleans house for great subsequent quarters. The headcount reduction is big, they certainly didn't cop out there. The -.30 earnings is worse than consensus, but that means they likely were ultraconservative in their accounting and stuffed extra horribles in now, obviously a smart move. The 2 bn cost savings _if realized_ would do wonders for the bottom line, that's a plus; but they have to realize these savings going forward, which will take great management, and they haven't been great at realizing any targets for a while. Earnings on continuing ops are not looking good at all, a big minus (or has AVAYA been subtracted out of there)? Finally, where's the leadership news? Don't see any in there. That's a big minus which needs to go away.
Any thoughts on the news release/ market reaction?
