Hal, I'll try to keep your refined sensibilities in mind next time I post. I always thought "ignorant" was a word in good standing, meaning (according to my dictionary) "lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified." However, perhaps you would have preferred a synonym, such as "unaware, uninformed . . . illiterate, unlettered, untutored, [or] unlearned." How about "knowledge challenged'?

Tell me, what term is acceptable to characterize someone who is posting conclusions that betray his -- if this isn't too strong a phrase for you -- lack of technical mastery? I don't want to make the same faux pas twice, or I won't get invited in for tea.
