Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment
survey. The survey was taken from 01/15 through 01/21 on the
LowRisk.com web site.

Number of participants: 430

30 day outlook:

50% bullish, 35% previous week
25% bearish, 42% previous week
25% neutral, 23% previous week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

The median guess for the Dow closing value on Friday, 01/26: 10,467
(it was 10,496 last week). More complete sentiment data is available

Bullish sentiment jumped by 15 percentage points to end at 50%.
That is the highest bullish reading we have had since August 20th
of last year. You may recall that late August of last year would
have been a very good time to get very cautious about the stock
market.

The neutral reading is also quite high at 25%. In the past we
have noted that high neutral readings often seem to lead to
increased volatility. This is the highest neutral reading since
September 4th of last year.

And to fill out a week of extremes, that bearish reading at 25%
is the lowest reading since last July 9th.

All in all, these numbers look like a big warning sign for the
bulls.
