Scumbria,

I spent countless hours last year trying to convince Europeans that they should want stock options. I noticed particularly among the French that my attitude was incomprehensible.

I can go along with the greater desire for security on part of Europeans, but the more appropriate antonym related to Americans is not insecurity but risk taking.

On a related subject, considering the demographics, rationally thinking Europeans may have more reasons for insecurity that Americans, since their demographics suggest greater crises and probably before it hits the US.

Joe

Scumbria,

Apropo....on the NBC news just now they were doing a story on how children have too much to do and are having a hard time keeping up. It turns out the busiest children reflect their parents who tend to be over achievers.

The story went on to say that Americans work the longest hours of any other country or developed country [not sure which]in the world....American men on average work 52 hours, American women...41 hours.

Supports your supposition from earlier today.
