TTOSBT, <Do you know if INTC has a release date for the IA-64 chip release?>

Itanium is already in a pilot release stage. The actual production release won't come for some time, unfortunately.

TTOSBT - re: "Do you know if INTC has a release date for the IA-64 chip release? "

Intel has never yet announced a release date for the IA64 - which leads me to believe they may never announce it.

Re: "Also are they still backing the Rambus chips?"

RAMBUS chips were NEVER considered for the IA64 architecture - huge memory capacities are required and RAMBUS is too expensive and gets TOOOO SLOW when large memories are implimented.
