the BoE has a formidable record of selling gold at exactly the wrong moment. it also has been remarkably ineffective in the past when trying to manage Sterling's external value. so judging from history, one should be buying whatever the BoE is selling.

i think junk bond land sees some opportunistic vulture money dipping its toes in the water. remember, even Buffett nibbled at some below investment grade stuff (although his motivations are not entirely clear...he may want to take control of the issuing companies in a roundabout way).

It seems like everything is playing out in slow motion. What should be happening in days is taking months to develop. This truly may be a very long bear.
