Re: Janet Reno and Ruby Ridge

Lil Joe.....First of all, I think you mean Reno and Waco. Secondly what responsibility do you ascribe to Koresh? Wasn't it true that the siege began because the cult had stockpiled a large cache of illegal weapons, eg machine guns and such.? As to the death of the children, I agree that Reno should have waited longer but it was Koresh et al who set the fire, not the FBI. However they should have given more consideration to the fact that religious fanatics had committed mass suicide in the past when confronted. Now suppose the FBI continued the siege until the compound ran out of food....would we let children starve...would we have sent in food for the children only(sure, Koresh would have gone hungry and just fed the kids) or would we have supplied everything they needed? So it's true those children should not have died, but let's not let anti-Reno rhetoric obscure the facts. I'd like to hear what you would have done in that situation......and please consider the details and logistics.

I never could figure out what the government was trying to keep Koresh from doing. My daughter says he was abusing the children, but I think they would be better off now if the government had never set foot in Waco.
