Maybe there are other ways to advocate your moral views than through sanctions. The sanctions punish completely innocent bystanders - the oppressed people in the oppressive countries, not their oppressors, US businesses and US workers.

I indicated to Tim earlier that I don't have a link. Its possible that I misunderstand the news person on CNBC or she miscommunicated the info. However, I am surprised by both yours and Tim's surprise.

Whether the comments attributed to GWB are true or not, I see him very capable of making them.

And if only your concern for the oppressed extended to the woman of Africa who has been raped by an aids infected man and wishes to abort the fetus. Its very probable that the organizations that could provide the abortion assistance will be the same ones cut off from US aid by Bush.

Sometimes we are the oppressor, sometimes the screwer.
