"a smarter way to attach the fan/heatsink to the CPU"

When I built my 800 Mhz Classic Athlon system last September, I bought the retail box off Priceline, so it came with heatsink and fan already attached by AMD, and didn't cost too much more than the OEM part. I figured it would be safer, easier and covered by a longer warranty (I think 3 years). BTW a 1.2 Ghz Athlon DDR system is looking good, but alas, it is too soon to upgrade. Our office just placed approximately 40 Compaq Ipaq's (733 PIII). Too bad, they could have easily gone with 1 Ghz Athlon's, but y'all know the old line "no one was ever fired for buying Intel".

The cheering section is getting crowded with Niceguy, DRBES and now Redbird. Too bad the other Analysts don't share Dan Scovell's cheery opinion of AMD (Strong Buy, target of $50).

Monty - Thanks for your TA comments. Sorry for your bad processer. I would hope that you just got a bad chip.

Well back to my lurking.
