WInMe will usually boot from a startup disk where you could run scandisk. I have tested the 98 boot disk on me and it worked. I can post the dos commands you'll need but I am not comfortable with dos. Let PMS give you "correct commands".

No no no!...

A DOS boot isn't the same as a DOS window. You want to do the DOS ScanDisk behind Windows' back. If Windows is anywhere near the scene, it'll stick its nose into what you're doing and make a mess -- Sorta like a boss.

If you can't revert to DOS, and I think Win ME is well skilled at preventing this, you'll need to boot to DOS from a floppy.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. Making a bootable floppy...

In My Computer, right click the floppy and select Format ...

Format, with Full selected, and Copy System Files box checked.
