back on 12/28/00 i received email titled....

Subject: Norton SystemWorks [RIP: LIVEADVISOR - 12/28/2000]

which said....

"Symantec has decided to discontinue the service; if you've run
LiveUpdate after October 30, 2000, it should have downloaded a patch
that deactivated LiveAdvisor.

If you upgrade to Norton SystemWorks 2001 or any other Symantec
product with that year in the title, it too will deactivate
LiveAdvisor in any 2000 versions still on your hard drive.

Symantec has replaced the LiveAdvisor delivery mechanism with
information on the Symantec Web site and product-specific
newsletters--see the Web page at:

symantec.com "

well, somehow i had managed to put liveadvisor on my nsw2001 install (the bulletin says it isn't supposed to be there). i think it happened when i put norton personal firewall2000 on my machine.

so i was wondering when this 'eradication' was going to take place. i just found a program update for liveadvisor on liveupdate, and downloaded and installed it. after reboot, guess what? RIP liveadvisor!

through it all (lots of updates over the last few days), the liveupdate feature has been performing admirably.

fwiw...

:)
