InterVoice-Brite Adopts Latest Release of SpeechWorks' Automated Speech Recognition Software
InterVoice-Brite Continues Commitment to Integrating Latest ASR Features
DALLAS, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- InterVoice-Brite (Nasdaq: INTV - news) today announced that the most recent version of SpeechWorks' Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) software is now available for deployment on InterVoice-Brite speech-enabled systems. This integration effort demonstrates InterVoice- Brite's long-term commitment to providing the latest, most advanced products available from SpeechWorks (Nasdaq: SPWX - news), a leading provider of telephony- based speech solutions. With the integration of SpeechWorks® 6.5, InterVoice-Brite customers can now deploy new value-added services that recognize U.S. names as well as support multiple languages on a single system.

This new release integrates pre-packaged building blocks from SpeechWorks, known as DialogModules(TM), into speech toolkits found within InterVoice- Brite's InVision® application development tool. This latest version of SpeechWorks provides the capability to easily load new DialogModules as they become available, without waiting for a version upgrade. The capability to simultaneously support two or more languages on a single system allows developers to create self-service applications in multiple languages; an important tool for businesses developing sophisticated, global automated self- service applications. Callers can also respond to prompts in their own dialects, depending on geographic location and regional demographics.

The new name recognition function allows unconstrained recognition of the majority of names in the United States based on U.S. census data. This advanced capability will make possible several new applications such as health insurance benefits, travel reservation confirmation, and inquiry applications where callers are asked to leave their name and number for a callback.

``The latest capabilities provided by the SpeechWorks software on the InterVoice-Brite platform further expand the possibilities for advanced speech applications in areas that previously could not be automated,'' said Bob Ritchey, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the InterVoice-Brite Enterprise Solutions Division. ``Along the same lines, the expanded multilingual capabilities will allow us to offer new applications to new global markets, bringing convenient and cost-effective speech-enabled applications to more and more corporations worldwide.''

``We are pleased to continue bringing enhanced speech solutions to InterVoice-Brite's large customer base,'' said Steve Chambers, Vice President of Marketing, SpeechWorks. ``Our relationship has resulted in exciting speech services with companies such as First Union National Bank, Continental Airlines, Thomas Cook Travel and other organizations committed to excellent customer service. We look forward to expanding our relationship as the economic benefits of speech are realized by major companies around the world.''

The InterVoice-Brite system enables rapid development of the most advanced natural language telephony applications available. The system, which features a vocabulary of more than 100,000 words, is equipped with additional tools including custom vocabulary development, industry-specific grammar libraries and a self-tuning feature. Languages supported now include English (US, UK, Australian and Singaporean), Spanish (Latin American and US), French (European and Canadian), Chinese (Mandarin) and German.

This press release may contain forward-looking statements that are subject to risks and uncertainties as described in the Company's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Such risks and uncertainties may cause actual results to differ materially from current expectations.
