No, there's no need for 95/1x dual ASIC.

The so called compatibility in CDMA2000 means

A CDMA2000 mobile station can operate in both CDMA2000 and IS-95 system. A CDMA2000 system can receive mobile station for both CDMA2000 and IS-95 mobile station.

Although a CDMA2000 mobile station operate in a 95 system will be subject to the service capability that system can provide.

Hope that helps.

<< be demand for phones with dual asics - IS-95+1X? >>

As Lakers pointed out, it is a single ASIC, and the great forward backward compatibility of cdmaOne/cdma2000 remains a great feature of the cdma family. The migration path for cdmaOne carriers is much less convoluted than for competitive technologies.
