>There is no sense to any of the after hours or market hours movements, on a day to day basis.<

I agree with you 100%!!!

>Stocks aren't trading on information.<

IMO so many people are looking for some direction to this market....and just seem to be waiting to find out what the FOMC will be doing with the interest rates. This seems to be a time to take some positions is great companies.....take advantage of the "sales prices" if you can, and not be heavily using margin. I wouldn't want to have either short positions or long positions right now that are heavily margined...only because as you said, this market doesn't make sense right now.

I am not a psychiatrist, after all.

Thank goodness!!! <g>

My guess is bidders are cautious ahead of Alan Greenspan's statements tomorrow.

We have had a huge runup with some stocks doubling from the
lows. A pullback here is to be expected. Plus yesterday we had rampant bullishness across SI which is usually a precursor to a selloff. I would be very surprised if NAZDAQ were to go below the 2500 level .

Yes, we should just all find something else to do for awhile, and let our ports work FOR US!

I have started working on an earthquake preparedness project for an agency in SoCal, for example. Neat stuff, really. I know your team keeps you busy, too. We should be fine going forward.

Regards,
Tom

p.s. I didn't see any mention of Nuan - Wow!

What I am getting at is that there is no point making new decisions. VRSN blew out earnings and gave good guidance and went down 4. I mean, they BLEW OUT the numbers. There is no sense to any of the after hours or market hours movements, on a day to day basis. Stocks aren't trading on information. So why bother paying attention? I am not a psychiatrist, after all.

Eugene,

I agree with you. I also wish to bring up the fact that in 1999 through early 2000 stocks were not trading on information either. The extreme was the opposite. It is very frustrating when the movements appearl illogical in either direction.

Gene,

That is exactly how I feel. I have not paid close attention to the press releases of the companies I own; a this point, I am simply waiting for better times to avoid getting caught up in hysteria which may or may not be justified.
