WHY *wouldn't* any parent (inner-city or not) take advantage of something, if their child wasn't learning???? I would think all parents want their schools to be good....and the teachers to teach and be accountable. BTW, there are teachers in my family!!!

I'm confused. How are vouchers going to benefit the vast majority of inner-city kids whose parents will NOT take advantage of vouchers? How will vouchers help this 95-99% bloc of kids to read better and write more skillfully?

I believe there is a certain % of inner-city parents who would take advantage of the step up which vouchers will offer their children. Especially if they have a near local choice of school to send their child to so transportation is not an issue. Look for a real move by corporate America to take advantage of this opportunity.

Vouchers are not a move toward religious schools. They are a move toward mass expansion of corporate schooling. Allow competition into the system and watch the teachers union cry foul... then get crushed by the parents who can see!
