RE: Non qualified options vs ISO.
The IRS puts a limit on the $ value of ISO that can be given to an employee in a single year based on the strike price of the options. Any number of shares in excess of that value must then be non qualified options. The limit is fairly low, so most executives at any company would likely have mostly non qualified options.
