Again, I raise the question of whether that is an accurate interpretation of what happened. Did camera sales fall? Or did camera sales increase less than expected? In either case, the flash card producers would have experienced a sudden drop in orders for new product. That doesn't mean, however, that overall sales dropped.

In fact, recent comments from both Kodak and Fuji regarding a significant downturn in conventional film sales (excluding those for throwaway cameras) suggest to me that there is a continuing shift from old fashioned film cameras to digital cameras. Another fact is that Sony appears to be gaining market share, which would, in the short term, weaken sales of CF or SmartMedia cards.
