TP, at least one reason I believe the US Supreme Court made sure that Bush would win is because they want their Conservative agenda to prevail. That agenda usually expands the power of states against Congress, limits individual rights and increase the Supreme Court's own power as they visibly demonstrated to the nation in the 2000 Election when they stopped the Florida recount. The Rehnquist and Scalia Court stand in contrast to the Warren Court where individual rights and civil liberties were strengthened.. Rehnquist and O'Connor may retire, two other conservative judges that stopped the Florida recount. And they want to make sure that Bush replaces them with Conservatives. Thomas also voted to stop the recount, but I imagine he plans to be around for awhile. JMOP Mephisto
