Talked to a buddy from LU last night -- his unit was sold before the layoff to Tyco -- he was not laid off, but kind of wished he was for the severance. Said his boss got a half years pay in the deal and then found a job paying 50% more ... don't know how common that is ... asked my buddy how long he thought that kind of environment would persist. He didn't know. Still looks to be a real shortage of engineers -- lots of openings -- I think some of the high tech areas may actually lag in the slowdown. Sh&t probably won't really hit the fan until end of the 2Q, I'd guess .. dailynews.yahoo.com
