Nah- the service I saw it on scrolls news off the history fairly quickly. The scary thing I read in this group was the reinfection of clean stock after mass slaughter. If the prions happen to infect the pasture as a result of cows drooling, then long term we have to find a way of managing these prions.

Hasn't shown up on mad-cow.org yet.

Some interesting stuff here though- probably a bit alarmist and extreme

home.earthlink.net

it was hard for the farmer to milk Bessie when she was splayed on the ground

Though Mad-Cow attacks brains, it's thought to be in every part of the cow, his flesh, blood, urine. The contamination cannot be removed by cooking or powdering him. A British Vegan woman caught it simply by dusting her roses with blood meal.

[B] MAD COW: German vets say milk feed machines possible cause

By BridgeNews

Hamburg--Jan. 25--Machines used to feed calves milk in the first weeks after their birth are a possible cause of the mad cow disease BSE, the association of German veterinary surgeons in public service said Thursday. In Bavaria, where most of Germany's 19 BSE cases have been found, almost every calf is fed milk with such machines for the first 12 weeks after birth, the association said. Fat residues containing BSE infection have been found in some of these machines, the association added.
