IMO abortion is similar to self defense. Pregnancy is not a fitting punishment for a night of sex. It lasts nine months and it can kill you- it can certainly make you wish you were dead. If you want to punish women for having unprotected sex wrist slapping might be appropriate- but forcing them to have babies certainly is not, in my book.

What if someone was just going to make your life a living hell, reduce your chances for education and pretty much condemn you to poverty. How about that? Would you defend your family member against THAT person too? I would!

I agree with X that this is largely a women's issue. As such, it should be decided by the women affected. Those women are the ones that may or may not have signed up to the contract they are being held to.

You might as well kiss a productive life goodbye if you have a child as a teen. That's statistically provable. There are exceptions, but they are just that, exceptions. Largely, it is the family of the exceptions that makes the difference and the PARENT (not a participant in the exchange of fluids) that takes on the burden. That seems onerous.
