Scumbria, On a kindergarten level of thinking (recession - bad), you would be right, the same way hyena eating a weak prey = bad, but recessions have a healthy and renewing effects, by shaking up the companies, the way they do business, push inefficient companies over the edge, so that the efficient ones have more room to grow. The last 2 expansions lasted about the same time (83 - 91, 93 - 2000), so maybe this is the new length of the cycle. Joe
