The continuing saga of Kevin and the "Punch Buggy"

Does anyone else have children that have reverted back to the times of their parents childhood?? Growing up, one of the silly things we did as kids was, when driving down the road, and we seen a "punch bug" was saying, "punch bug <insert color>, no punch backs" and then promptly giving the person next to you a little punch." Please confess, tell me that back here in North Western Pennsylvania we weren't the only ones that did such silly things. I did ask my husband if as children growing up in Ohio, they did that, he said.....nope, never heard of such a thing. Well, nonetheless with the rebirth of the Volkswagen, my children have also given new birth to this most annoying childhood game. They have renamed it from a "punch bug" to a "punch buggy."
One day the entire family was in the car heading to my mom's house. At a red light the children start calling out....."punch buggy green" "punch buggy blue" "punch buggy gray." I was finding it difficult to believe that at this one intersection there could be three Volkswagens at one time. A bit puzzled, Mike and I ask the children where they were seeing these "punch buggies." Who would have guessed that they were all talking about the same car!! Emily then said, "That punch buggy is light blue, not green and not gray" My two boys are "colored blind" or as the new politically correct term.....color deficient. It was pretty funny that they all called out different colors for the same car. Thus really cemented the family interest in punch buggies!!
Now how this relates to the continuing story of "Kevin and the Punch Buggies" is that prior to Kevin purchasing the toy car to give away in his Operation Christmas Child shoe box, Mike had seen the cars at the store.
He thought given the fascination with "punch buggies," that we should buy each of the children one for Christmas. After Kevin bought the one to give away, and we discussed if we wanted Kevin to get on or not. Mike stuck to his desire that we should buy each of them, one of these toy cars for Christmas. He went out and bought the 4 four cars, each in a different color.
Today, Kevin was looking at Emily's punch buggy sitting on her dresser. Her's is red, Brian got silver, Michael got black....(just like the one we gave away!!) and Kevin's is yellow, (and already has a bad tire on it). He was discussing the color of everyone's car. Then he said to me, "You know Mom for a little bit I was really sad on Christmas, cause all the kids had gotten a punch buggy but me." He takes a breath and continues on, "I didn't think I was going to get one" Then he smiles, the hugest, brightest smile and said, "But then when I seen the present in the Angel paper, I knew I was getting one too!!" I smiled back at him, quite stunned that he had taken note of and a month later recalled even the wrapping paper this gift was wrapped in. None of the Christmas gift were intentionally wrapped in a specific paper. I could not help but note the significance to the angel paper wrapped around his punch buggy Christmas morning, and his actions earlier in the month, when he made the decision to buy one for a child somewhere in the world that does not have as many toys as he does.....
