Both are 22K, not pure gold coin. Each weighs a little over 1 ounce, with exactly 1 ounce gold.

Most Gold Eagles and Krugerrands are selling for close to their bullion value. Some rarer dates and proofs do carry a collectable premium. The prices I listed are for the common coins with dealer's choice on dates. Current year coins sell for a bit more, but they almost always lose their collectable premium in the following year.

based on spot gold price of 264.30...

Dealer's Choice 1 oz Gold Eagles are around 274.95
for comparison:
1 oz 2000 Gold Eagles are around 287.95 (low production)
1 oz 2001 Gold Eagles are around 284.95
Dealer's Choice 1 oz Gold Krugerrands are around 267.95.

The Krugerrands and the Eagles are not pure gold, but rather contain 1 oz of pure gold. I think they are 22 karat and thus they weigh a little more than one ounce.

Others such as Mapleleafs and Kangaroos are pure gold and contain and weigh exactly one oz.

1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz coins can also be purchased but premiums are higher as these are more for collectors than for serious gold bug. Chinese 1/10 oz Pandas have one of the highest premiums of the gold bullion coins as they are very popular to use in jewelry...

I guess you could say that all of these bullion coins have some collectible premium. Gold Eagles could in theory move down to Krugerrand prices and I suppose it would be possible for Krugerrands to start selling at scrap prices (below spot since they would need to be refined to get it back to 24k). But I think for all practical purposes these common gold coins are decent way to invest in physical gold.
