The Vince Foster topic consumed the press for weeks.

True but you didn't see headlines "Clinton suspected in plot to kill Foster". An administration offical died, early on it was not certain that it was suicide and the investigation was poorly run, that makes for a legitimate story, but unless you were reading fringe publications or web sites that are in to conspiracy theories you didn't see much in the way of accusations that Clinton commited murder.

Whitewater also consumed them for years, before that was dropped.

Whitewater draged on for years but was never a top story. One of the reasons it draged on so long was that the Clintons came out with little bits of information over a long period of time. If they really are innocent of any wrong doing and if they had come clean with all the information that they had at the begining, it might have been a top story for a week or two and then it would have mostly disapeared.

The first couple months of Clinton's presidency, Time and Newsweek were publishing articles saying that he wasn't going to last the year.

I can't say that this isn't true as I don't read every issue of Time or Newsweek, but if they did publish stories saying this the stories did not get signifigant attention from other news sources.

The right wing has learned how to manipulate the press quite effectively. Endless whining about the "liberal media" has pushed the press further and further to the right over the last two decades.

If the press is so far to the right why do conservative causes and ideas get such poor treatment by the press?
