OTOT: I think you are referring to the national debt that was accumulated over the last 30 years. But, my point is that the government is not in the process of issuing new debt right now. they are in the process of paying down the debt that is owed. just ask treasury bond dealers what happened to all the supply. as bonds are paid off, they are not being replaced with new issues. there has been a large drop in treasury yields since this process began last year. btw, i majored in accounting. good luck, ross
