GW didn't distort or lie in the debates more then is typical in debates. Also the press did call him on errors even
things that are arguably not mistakes such as his statement that the murderers that dragged a man behind a truck
would be executed, when in fact only two out of three of them will be executed (the other faces a life sentence).
Or Bush focusing on reduction of pollution in TX while Gore focused on the fact that it is still bad.

I did see little attention in the press to some of Gore's distortions. In particular the claim that Houston was the
most polluted city in the nation. In fact it was only the most polluted in one of the 4 measured air pollutants and
only for a short time while LA temporarily had very favorable weather.

I think the press will look to blast any politician when it gets a good opportunity. In that sense it is not biased
against Republicans, as much as it is biased against conservative ideas. Conservative ideas rarely get positive
press.
