True about the advanced courses. I was considered the hippie of my home town....that's how small it was....I used to get expelled for having long hair.... Locally, we have some of the better structured public schools and without question some kids come out exceptionally well prepared for life. I give a lot of that credit to the parents working with the school. But by far, the masses are truly left behind. I have tolerance for kids wanting to try the latest "fad", drugs being the exception. But, like some drugs, fads lead to other behavioral problems and the system can't stop the down hill slide. In a private school, the slide never starts. I guess I'm really paying for that ounce of prevention and hoping not having to fight the system as I see this to be more costly to both parent and child. SHootie

Point, a lawyer had a child, 17, injured in a car accident. The Catscan tech had multi colored hair and the lawyer vetoed him. Son died, lawyer sued. Testimony said the fruity haired guy was the best in the state and would have saved his son. No award, must be a statement here.
