He swore to uphold the Constitution for both atheists and Christians in that ceremony. That is all that counts.

As far as roasting cows on spits most Hindus would not worry about offending you. You can't go around giving a second thought to offending people from foreign backwaters.

I really blame your concerns on the fact that most women today have had the perpetual victim myth drummed into their heads.

Have that barbecue strip naked and dance till dawn, it's what the whole world wants.

Thanks for your thoughtful response.

I cant find the 2001 invocation, (was it an official event).

I did find this interesting
yale.edu

GW - 2001
God bless you all, and God bless America.

Jimmy Carter - 1976
Here before me is the Bible used in the inauguration of our first President, in 1789, and I have just taken the oath of office on the
Bible my mother gave me a few years ago, opened to a timeless admonition from the ancient prophet Micah:

"He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk
humbly with thy God." (Micah 6: 8)

This inauguration ceremony marks a new beginning, a new dedication within our Government, and a new spirit among us all. A
President may sense and proclaim that new spirit, but only a people can provide it.

LBJ - 1965
If we fail now, we shall have forgotten in abundance what we learned in hardship: that democracy rests on faith, that freedom asks
more than it gives, and that the judgment of God is harshest on those who are most favored.

If we succeed, it will not be because of what we have, but it will be because of what we are; not because of what we own, but, rather
because of what we believe.

JFK - 1961
And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe--the belief that the
rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

Harry Truman - 1949
To that end we will devote our strength, our resources, and our firmness of resolve. With God's help, the future of mankind will be
assured in a world of justice, harmony, and peace.

FDR - 1945
The Almighty God has blessed our land in many ways. He has given our people stout hearts and strong arms with which to strike
mighty blows for freedom and truth. He has given to our country a faith which has become the hope of all peoples in an anguished world.

So we pray to Him now for the vision to see our way clearly--to see the way that leads to a better life for ourselves and for all our
fellow men--to the achievement of His will to peace on earth.
