Very short sighted approach, a recession will be remembered in 2002, and possibly in 2004. Furthermore, a real recession could get us back into a budget deficit, which will be further amplified by two large a tax cut. The tax cut that should be implemented, IMHO, is a gradual movement of the transition form 15% to 28%, until the 28% bracket is eliminated, maybe a five year project. That will give every tax payer the same tax "rebate", of course, it will have a greater impact on the demand side of the economy than cutting back the top rate, and of course it will be worth much more to those in the 28% tax bracket. To be fair to those in the lowest bracket, the same amount of creep should be included as an increase in "Personal exemption".
