Just because we used to circle 3 times before we sit down, doesn't mean we have to continue to do so until our nation dies. People need to understand that when these traditions began, everyone was Christian. I've told the story before on SI about my Methodist college roommate and her Presbyterian boyfriend who broke up because they didn't want a mixed marriage. This was 40 years ago. Now we need to accommodate a much broader spectrum. Karen

"For every person that the invocation brings comfort, there is likely someone, somewhere who is offended." Why do so many otherwise vocal and intelligent people today seek out things to be offended at? Bush had to make a stand for Christianity for obvious reasons. The Christian right helped elect Bush and they are a powerful lobby. What you saw was Caesar paying homage to his most loyal followers. You would do the same thing if you were on that stage.
