I wish you'd stop it. I can't decide whether to laugh or be pissed off. And indecision bugs me. "should I stay, or should I go" .. sorry, had to break into song. Anyway...

YYB

And Bob (are you listening?)

here's the deal. I'm a redneck. I just can't help myself. It gripes me when my friends are threatened and I then I act like what I am. A redncek. Soooo, if I'm going to last, and these threads are going to last, I figure bullies need to be dealt with. Ignoring is one option, and usally the only one it takes. Some bullies are recalsitrant and require further action. Now, where I come from you say "k, let's take it outside". Apparently I can't do that here without Bob getting mad at me. But I can turn them in to a higher authority. And I will. Most bullies disappear upon being ignored. Those that don't need to be dealt with by an authority that can control, failing that, by oneself. Hopefully the former will be sufficient. It isn't always in the 3d world, as we know. It is only natural that here on SI we would run into stalkers, violent obcessives, and the like. They are everywhere, afterall. We shouldn't let the idea that it is "tattling" keep us from protecting oursevles, or our friends from them. And if that protection fails, from protecting oursevles, by ourselves. I am willing to try for letting Adminstration deal with them, and hope that they are sincere.

But isn't this a thread where everything is on topic? The only real "rule" I'd like to see followed here is that people should talk more about ideas, opinions, and issues than about each other. I don't see any way of enforcing it, though. If people want to act like children, they will.

Arguments do sometimes break down into personal conflict. That's natural enough. When that happens, the sensible thing to do is to break it off. Two or three nasty posts, fine. Two or three days of nasty posts is a bit over the top.
