Pro, you're more than welcome. Thank you for the input,
any thoughts are appreciated.

My concern with head count, is that it was announced, then
not done. Personally, letting people leave the firm is terrible and costly. Unless their efforts were duplicative or that they had become so ensconced in other than this corporation's culture that it would be counter productive to try to retrain them in the goals.

My concern is that if there is a price war, the way to win is to become the low cost producer, to cut the product line to the simplest possible and to mass produce the crap out of what you have.

When I walk into Good Guys, I see 47 different models of Compaqs, with all kinds of different buttons. When I go on the website, I see 1200 different things to do, OTHER THAN BUY A COMPUTER. This is not the way to make a profit in the low end of the market. Nor is refusing to fight.

Create a different website for each type of customer. Consumer pc users should be separate and business's should have their own direct website to compaq that is unavailable to consumer lookee loos.

IF, there is demand, then produce the crap out of it. 100,000 ipacs a month???? What's wrong with this picture, isn't demand twice that? MY GUESS? they are subbing out the whole manufacturing process. Less profit, less control. But I really am just guessing.

But something isn't ringing right.

Again, thank you for your conversations with IR.

Best,

D.
