ISLD had a short outage yesterday. I haven't heard of anything today, though, and I am able to get Island order book quotes through RealTick. May have been a problem earlier, as I wasn't really looking.

They don't often have outages - this (yesterday) is the first alert I have seen in quite some time. Townsend, though, does have problems quite often with Island. I think sometimes they shut-down order book feeds for a while if their system gets too bogged-down.

Subject: Island Service Interruption

Dear Subscriber,

This afternoon Island experienced a network related problem that affected
subscribers attempting to enter or cancel orders. The problem occurred at
approximately 12:53:26 PM (EST) and was resolved at 12:59:56 PM (EST).
During these times, any orders or cancellations sent to Island were not
accepted. Orders placed prior to 12:53:26 PM or after 12:59:56 PM were not
affected.

Specifically, this interruption was caused by a failure in Island's core
matching engine. Island is designed with a failover matching engine which
is always ready to take over in cases like this. Our current failover
procedure was designed with a number of safety checks that took just over
six minutes to complete. Obviously we know that even a six minute outage
has a major impact on our subscribers, so we will continue to work on ways
to recover from a worst-case failure like this in under a minute.

Thank you,

William Sterling
