ild, If I were sure, and if I thought the recession would be caused by a weak dollar, or at least cause the dollar to weaken, then I'd use the strategies I outlined in my note about the leveraged play against the dollar. I would also buy as many puts as I could afford on every stock selling for triple digits, because there will be nary one like that, except for Berkshire Hathaway <g>, left standing after a recession. Then I'd go looking for folks who lent money to folks who can't repay it. Then I'd go after everyone who provides a luxury service and who has a high priced stock. And I would then start buying puts on defensive stocks because they always get way overpriced at the start of recessions. But I'd save most of my money for puts on the brokerage firms, especially the online discounters, and the fund cos. They won't go broke. Just way down.
