I don't know if it is, in fact, the official policy of the United States government.

Uncle Sam has been using credit cards for a while now, but you still need to get a bunch of signatures to obligate the money before you can use the credit card to spend it. There are also extra hoops for buying computer stuff.

But it's moot in this case because some outfit is donating W keys and keyboards.
