when the scales is tip, the net result is not necessarily a crash or crashette but a gradually accelerating withdrawal Lots of variables. Many boomers (especially on SI) plan to retire early. OTOH many more with no savings and in this era of no pensions, will work later. Moreover many boomers delayed their children and hence their peak spending will be delayed. I differ with bb about the possibility of this bear being secular. But the same reasons that cause me to differ now, have me very worried about the next one. lurqer
