I sure hope Silicon Investor's HTML author aren't ignorant enough to think that they can compute how wide (in pixels) the box needs to be to contain the text.

That is IMPOSSIBLE--one can't know exactly what actual screen font the user will be using or how many pixels wide the characters will be.

I hope they're doing some kind of relative calculation (if that's possible; I don't know CSS in detail) and just screwed up a little bit.

(Of course, I wish they'd leave it alone.)

Damn, I wish I knew what web technologies they're using. Maybe I could suggest a better solution to serve their needs (more-maintainable code) and our (no screwing around with formats). (I work with servlets, XML, etc. Delivering the same data in such different formats is probably better done with XML/XSLT than with CSS.)
